About Us

Shepherd of the Valley Preschool is a ministry of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church.  Founded in 1981, it is our commitment to provide a well-balanced age appropriate program so that each child can mature and grow to their fullest potential. We are delighted to support families in raising up their children to know that they are loved, unique, cared for, and wonderfully made- Psalm 39:14.  

Shepherd of the Valley is located in a quiet neighborhood of Almaden Valley and easily accessible to surrounding communities.  Our campus is a private and secure building behind the church with a large parking lot.  Within the building are 5 classrooms, bathrooms, hand washing sinks, children's cubbies, a kitchen, and a spacious gym to enjoy hours of play in!  Our fenced playground is a joyful environment with a climbing structure with slides, a playhouse, ride on toys, a Geo dome climber, a biblical mural, large sandbox, bike path, grass, and a children's planting garden.  The playground is lined by grown trees and has a park like feel.  In the warmer months a shade cover is installed to provide larger areas of shade.  

Our staff is enthusiastic about Early Childhood Education and have dedicated many years into serving at Shepherd of the Valley.  Our classrooms have a supportive ratio of:

Preschool 3's - 1 Teacher and 1 Assistant with 12 Children
Pre- Kindergarten - 1 Teacher and 1 Assistant with 15 Children
Junior Kindergarten - 1 Teacher and 1 Assistant with 18 Children

Our school also has the support of a "Floating Aide" to assist all the of classrooms as needed and to help with organization, cleaning, and sanitation throughout the day.

School and Family Connection

Your child is a gift given to you by God, and we are honored to partner with parents during their child’s early education. It is our goal to create a warm family and school connection.

• Our teachers meet with each child and family individually at their home or on our campus to help the child feel confident in a new environment and get to know their teacher before school begins.
• Our families are enrolled with Brightwheel, an app for signing in and out. Brightwheel is also a software tool to stay informed of daily activities, receive videos and photos of your child, pay tuition, and communicate with your child’s teacher and Director on your phone.
• We value communicating each child’s experiences in school through conversation on a regular basis, progress reports, and parent/teacher conferences.
• Classroom newsletters and calendars inform our families of the daily theme and activities.
• Family events such as our Thanksgiving Sing and Feast, Christmas Performance, Mother’s Day Tea, Donuts with Dad, and Graduation Ceremonies are a great way for families to enjoy their children’s accomplishments and be connected with the school and other families.
• Our classes have an excellent ratio to provide individual attention and support to each child.
